If you are like me, you find that certain questions raise anxiety. I call these Core Questions. They raise issues that are at the core of my life. When they come up, I think to myself, ‘Oh no. If I question this and come up with something, it means that I might have to make big changes, I might be on the wrong track.’ Then almost without thinking I find a way to think about something else.
But, when I stop and face them head on, I find they are different than they first appeared. They are not here to threaten me. They are arising within my mind because they are more than questions. They are ways for me to frame my growth and the reason they at first feel threatening is because they tackle things that are immensely important to me.
That doesn’t mean they are important to others. In fact, others may think they are silly, or irrelevant. It doesn’t matter. They are important to me, and that is key.
These questions frame my life’s quest. I don’t want to turn away from them as I am inclined to do at first pass. I want to turn toward them. Use them for what they are, an effective channel to query and live my life. What are your big questions…. today?
